Dustkill
Bio-Based Dust Suppressant
Primary Use: Residential and Commercial use. Typically applied to stone drives, industrial lots, public roadways, and more.
Ideal for: Municipal Applicator Trucks, Most Spraying Devices
Dustkill is a proprietary soy based oil blend developed over several years. It is categorized as an Organic Nonpetroleum dust suppressant and is a non-hazardous, environmentally safe, natural blend that surpasses all USDA criteria for classification as a “Bio-Based” product.
Dustkill is applied topically to a dry 50/50 blend of stone and dust. It works well with road millings, slag, and most aggregate based road surfaces. Dustkill penetrates the dry surface when applied, and will begin to cure immediately. It will provide surface stabilization, along with extended dust control on compatible surfaces.
Application
Equipment Needed:
Dustkill is best applied with a pressurized sprayer, through nozzles with an opening greater than 3/16″ that will distribute an even pattern on to the surface. Asphalt trucks work well, along with spray trucks that have pressurized delivery systems. Typical application truck speed would be 5-7 mph. If available, a heated delivery system (+100F) will help the product to penetrate, and extend application season. However, this is not necessary or required during warm weather months. The material will clean out of any sprayer easily with soap and water.
Surface Preparation:
Dustkill is most effective when road surface has been lightly (1″-2″) graded, and is a dry 50/50 blend of aggregate and dust. Pre-wetting is not necessary when applying Dustkill. The road surface should be dusty at time of application, and loose to improve penetration. Moderate rainfall following application will not affect performance, but it would be best to delay application if heavy rains are imminent.
Environmental Considerations:
Dustkill is resilient to environmental factors such as humidity, wind, sunlight, rain, and altitude after application. However, Dustkill is sensitive to cool temperatures before application, and will begin to thicken in prolonged temperatures below 65F. It is not intended to be applied when average temperatures are below 55F.
Application Instructions:
- It is recommended to apply Dustkill before closing, or on a day when road traffic is light. This will allow time for product to cure, and minimize any tracking issues.
- Typical full rate coverage for most initial applications would be appx 40-50 sq ft per gallon, however coverage rates vary based off surface porosity. Product should penetrate the surface without puddling.
- Add the Dustkill material directly into empty spray tank – do not add water. Using sprayer, apply a single topical application evenly to the dry prepared surface.
- Monitor surface during application to confirm penetration of product.
Following Application:
Roadway can be driven on immediately following application, and will help product to compact and bind the surface. However it is best to drive slowly until Dustkill has fully penetrated the surface. Dustkill will begin to cure immediately, and appear wet for appx 1-2 weeks as it binds with the surface. The product is accumulative, so any follow up applications should be very light – appx 100 sq ft per gallon.
Storage of Dustkill:
Dustkill should be stored in temperatures above 70F to maintain fluidity. If the Dustkill material thickens due to cool temperatures, apply a heat source to the storage container to thin the material. This is best accomplished in warm months by storing the material in a direct sunlight location. Immersion and blanket heat systems are available for quick reheating, and allow Dustkill to have a multi-year shelf life.
Coverage, Longevity & Packaging
One gallon of Dustkill covers about 50 square feet of prepared surface. For average conditions, a single application will last an entire season. Truck lots may require spot applications in heavy tire turning areas. Dustkill is the most powerful liquid dust suppressant available.
Dustkill is available year round, but demand is greatest during summer months.
Dustkill is also available in 275 gallon totes, 55 gallon drums, and 5 gallon containers.
